Courtney Smith, left, and Christopher Hughes, right, were arrested for burglary in Melbourne on Monday.

Two men were arrested in Melbourne on Monday for burglary after a witness saw them breaking into a Greenway Drive home, police said.

Police said the neighbor saw the suspects leave the house with expensive electronics and gave a description of their vehicle, leading cops straight to them. The suspects briefly tried to flee, but ultimately stopped, according to police reports.

Officers said they observed the stolen electronics in the back seat of the car and then arrested the suspects, 19-year-old Christopher Hughes and 22-year-old Courtney Smith.

MPD said officers were able to obtain confessions from both suspects and that the arrest would not have been possible without the help of the neighbor who witnessed the crime deciding to call it in.
