An Orlando police officer conducting a stop Thursday night was dragged by a vehicle and injured.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the 1200 block of Polk Street.
According to Orlando police, the officer, identified as Johnathan Mills, stopped a silver SUV and during an investigation the driver grabbed the officer, pulling him partially into the vehicle while speeding away.
The driver, identified by police as 24-year-old Cornelius Hutchinson of Orlando, dragged Mills about 20 feet before fleeing the scene, Orlando police said.
Mills was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries and was later released.
During the course of the investigation, police said a warrant was obtained for Hutchinson.
At about 1:45 p.m. Friday, Orlando police said Hutchinson was found in the area of Raleigh Street and Lennox Avenue. Hutchinson was arrested on the warrant and will be booked into the Orange County Jail.
Hutchinson's charges on the warrant include aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer with violence and resisting an officer without violence, police said.
Authorities said Mills has been with the Orlando Police Department since Jan. 2012.
