A man put an Orange County convenience store clerk in a headlock and threatened her life before robbing the store, deputies say.

ORLANDO, Fla. -

A man put an Orange County convenience store clerk in a headlock and threatened her life before robbing the store, according to deputies.

The robbery happened around 1 a.m. Friday at the 7-Eleven on McCoy Road near the Beachline and South Orange Avenue in Orlando.

According to Orange County sheriff's deputies, the man selected some items from the store and approached the counter.  He then hopped over the counter, grabbed the clerk from behind and put her in a choke hold while demanding cash, deputies said.

The man, who implied that he had a gun, threatened the woman and left the store, deputies said.

"This is unusual -- these people that put their hands on people and put
them in a headlock and drag them around and have no concern for their well-being," Orange County sheriff's Lt. Parks Duncan said.

The woman was not injured.

Deputies released a surveillance photo of the man, described as in his 40s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall.  Deputies say it's likely the man left in a vehicle.
