OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. -

An Osceola County deputy was struck by a car on Monday afternoon during a traffic stop.

Deputy Paul Spears, 47, was conducting traffic enforcement on foot on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway just after 1 p.m. when he flagged down a vehicle.

As the vehicle stopped for Spears, the car behind it, driven by 36-year-old Natalie Romaniello, didn't stop and hit the back of the vehicle before driving over the curb and then hitting Spears.

Spears was taken to Celebration Hospital with minor injuries.

Romaniello was ticketed for careless driving.
