An overturned truck leaked fuel on northbound lanes of State Road 417 on Tuesday afternoon, backing up traffic for hours.
The crash occurred around 6 p.m. at SR 417 at the Colonial Drive exit, causing a hazardous materials situation because of the leak, according to Orange County Fire Rescue.
The Florida Highway Patrol said three vehicles were traveling northbound on SR 417 in the inside travel lane.
Traffic started to slow due to rush hour traffic, and FHP said one of the vehicles failed to notice the traffic stop.
The driver, identified by FHP as 33-year-old Mary Petty, took evasive action and collided with the guardrail on the left shoulder, and then came back into traffic and collided with another vehicle. That vehicle, as a result, collided with the third vehicle.
Finally, the third vehicle collided with the semi-box truck, causing it to overturn on its right side.
FHP said Petty was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Fernando E. Molina Jr., the 30-year-old driver of the semi-truck, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. FHP said the other two drivers were not injured as a result of the crash.
Meanwhile, earlier on Tuesday, a crash blocked Interstate 4 in Seminole County.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-4 near U.S. Highway 17-92.
The Florida Highway Patrol said there were reports of at least two injuries.
