What Daytona Beach authorities are investigating as a carjacking ended in Seminole County, backing up westbound Interstate during rush hour traffic.

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -

A carjacking in Daytona Beach ended on Interstate 4 in Seminole County on Tuesday afternoon, backing up westbound traffic during rush-hour.

Audrey McWhite faces charges of auto theft and Rodney Hamilton faces a charge of battery in the incident, which authorities say started at the beach in Daytona.

The owner of a black SUV, Jennifer Wade, walked into the Family Dollar on Mason Avenue just after 4 p.m. to report the carjacking, officials said.

Police said Hamilton attacked her, forced her out of the car and took off.

Volusia County deputies said a helicopter spotted the car on I-4 and that no chase ensued. VCSO helped SCSO find the car and stopped it at mile marker 93, backing up westbound I-4 traffic tol State Road 434.

Wade was being treated at Halifax Medical Center for abrasions to the knee, foot and elbow and a knot on the upper right eye.
