Thousands leave Red, Hot & Boom at Crane's Roost near Uptown Altamonte, creating some traffic problems.

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -

People arrived early Thursday for Red, Hot & Boom at Crane's Roost near Uptown Altamonte, creating some traffic problems.

Traffic maps showed a backup of cars waiting to get off of Interstate 4 at State Road 436 at noon, four hours before the entertainment was scheduled to begin.

Thousands were expected to turn out to see six music groups that headline this year's lineup, including A Great Big World, Ingrid Michaelson, Alex & Sierra, American Authors, Alex Angelo and Echo Smith.

The concert was followed by a fireworks display, which was scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

Red, Hot and Boom is the last event to take place at Crane's Roost before the venue undergoes a renovation.

The city of Altamonte Springs will spend $3.1 million to resurface the boardwalk, renovate the stage, replace the shade canopies and add new lighting -- work that hasn't been done in 10 years.

The project is expected to last 18 months.
