Tree workers shocked, injured by power line, Brevard deputies say

MALABAR, Fla. -

Two tree care workers were shocked and taken to hospitals Tuesday after a downed branch struck a power line in Malabar, Brevard County Sheriff's deputies said.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in the 2900 block of Orange Avenue near U.S. 1, just

One man was airlifted to an Orlando hospital and the other was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, deputies said.

The Sheriff's Office said one of the men cut a branch, which hit a main Florida Power and Light line, shocking the man and his coworker.

FPL cut power to the area, affecting more than 2,150 customers in the area of Malabar Road.  It was restored about 30 minutes later.
