Sasha Samsudean trial: State presents evidence linking Duxbury to murder scene

First week of first-degree murder trial to wrap up Friday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Testimony continued Friday at the trial of a former Orlando security guard accused of killing a woman at a downtown Orlando apartment complex in 2015.

Orlando police said that while Stephen Duxbury, 35, was working as a security guard at Uptown Place Condominiums, he followed 27-year-old Sasha Samsudean into her apartment, raped and killed her. Duxbury faces life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder in Samsudean's death.

As the first week of the trial wraps up, jurors on Friday heard from crime scene investigators who showed pictures and evidence of the violent scene.

Shoe impression specialist Diane McConaghey, with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, told jurors that one of Duxbury's Skethcher sneakers matched an imprint found near Samsudean's bed.

The trial is expected to continue through next week.
