Science is more popular than history

Americans grade math as the most valuable school subject and reading/English/literature a close second in a recent Gallup poll.

That hasn't changed through the years, but in 2013 science has now taken a jump over history.

Last year, just four percent of respondents said that science was the most important subject with seven percent citing history.

Just a year later science has moved up to the third spot with 12 percent regarding it as the most important subject.

The views also vary based on age, gender and education level.

The importance of English rises with higher education levels, while those with a high school degree or less cite Math as more important.
