Shark bites 13-year-old girl off New Smyrna Beach

Four days after two men were bitten by sharks off New Smyrna Beach, a girl suffered the same fate, officials say.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -

A 13-year-old girl was bitten by a shark Thursday afternoon in the waters off New Smyrna Beach, officials said.

The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. just south of the jetty.

According to Volusia County Beach Patrol, the girl, who's from Melbourne, was in the water when a shark bit her heel. 

The girl suffered a laceration and was taken to a hospital by her parents.

No other details were immediately known.

Four days ago, two men were bitten by sharks off New Smyrna Beach.
