DELAND, Fla. -

Stetson University officials have found a solution for an on-campus housing shortage.

During the fall semester, some 52 students will be housed in 26 rooms on the fourth floor of the Clarion Hotel in DeLand.

Students will begin moving in over the weekend, with classes set to begin Aug. 22.

The housing shortage is due to increasing enrollment at Stetson.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the central Florida university will have 870 new freshmen this fall, with a total undergraduate enrollment of 2,700. That's up from 2,500 last year.

Stetson crews made minor modifications to the hotel rooms.

They added a dresser in each room and converted two suites into lounges.

The university will run a free shuttle from the hotel to the campus, which is about two miles away.
