DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

Volusia County authorities say they have rescued a woman swimming near the Daytona Beach pier on Friday afternoon.

Fire officials said initial 911 calls reported a woman stuck in the pier or missing.

Daytona Beach police said the woman was swimming near the pier, got swept out and was brought back onto the shore after holding on to a piling for safety.

No other details, including the swimmer's condition, were immediately available.

The rescue comes the same day the National Weather Service issued a rip current statement for Volusia and Brevard counties.
