ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -

A taxi driver's van was stolen in Orange County after he escaped an armed passenger on Sunday.

The taxi driver from Red Taxi received a call Sunday around 8 a.m. to pick up a fare in Deltona and drive them to Orange County.

When the driver arrived to pick up a male and female passenger, the duo began loading items in the back of the taxi. The driver told them he didn't have time for them to load all of their items, and that's when the woman pulled a gun on the driver, threatened him, and told him to drive them to Orange County.

While in Orange County, the driver claimed to be having mechanical problems with the van and told them he needed to pull over to check it out.

After pulling over in the parking lot of a convenience store at the corner of Volusia Avenue and Graves Avenue and opening the hood, the driver took off running.

When deputies got to the convenience store, the van was gone, but recovered by Seminole County Sheriff's deputies at approximately 11:30 a.m. near Center Street and Midway Avenue in Sanford.
