ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -

An Orange County teen who was previously arrested and accused of trying to drown a police dog has been arrested on a similar charge, according to authorities.

Landon Barnes was booked into the Orange County jail on Tuesday morning after deputies arrested him on a burglary charge and attempting to injure a police dog or horse.

Barnes was involved in burglarizing a home on Oakwater Pointe Drive and was running from the area when the K-9 approached him.

Deputies said Barnes wrapped his arm around the neck of the Orange County Sheriff's Office K-9, named Bowden, and tried to choke him for about 30 seconds. Deputies said Bowden will be bruised but is expected to make a full recovery.

In August, Barnes was also a suspect in another burglary when a dog caught him hiding in a nearby pond. Deputies said Barnes then tried to drown the dog.

In that incident, Barnes was charged with burglary, injuring a police dog and resisting arrest.
