FHP troopers are investigating a crash in Brevard County that killed two men from California.
Troopers say the men were trying to cross State Road 520 near Lime Street in Cocoa on Sunday night. FHP says the men were not in a crosswalk and did not cross at an intersection.
While the men were crossing State Road 520, a 2006 Nissan traveling westbound hit the men, killing them both, the FHP said.
Witnesses driving on State Road 520 told Local 6 the crash happened so quickly they almost didn't notice the bodies in the road.
"Next thing I knew, a shoe flew into the road," one man told Local 6. "And then next thing I knew, a body flew into the road, so I had to swerve to avoid it."
"I'm still in shock because I've never seen anything like that before," the witness said.
Troopers say the 26-year-old and 49-year-old victims are from El Monte, California. The driver involved in the crash is 42-year-old Johnny Harvey Jr., of Cocoa.
Harvey was taken to Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge with minor injuries.
Troopers tell Local 6 the crash is still under investigation and they aren't sure if Harvey, Jr. will face charges.
