Thousands of Floridians may be entitled to a refund after they were billed for unauthorized phone charges by third-party vendor DADATA, Inc.
The refunds stem from a legal settlement of $2.3 million.
Individual refund checks are estimated to average $134, and they may be as high as $700.
The Florida Attorney General's Office mailed more than 12,000 reminder postcards to consumers around the state.
The Attorney General's Office said DADATA, Inc. placed charges on telephone bills for voicemail, e-fax, or other services on behalf of numerous companies without the customers' consent.
Customers were billed at rates of $12.95 to $19.95 per month.
Those eligible for refunds were billed from July 1, 2009 to Dec. 31, 2012.
The deadline to file a refund claim is April 12, 2014.
