Margaret Underwood, 84, of Winter Haven, drove her husband to the CVS at 970 State Road 540 Wednesday afternoon and stayed in their 2008 Chevrolet Impala while he went inside, police said.

When he returned to the car, Underwood began backing out of the parking space and struck a Chevrolet Suburban that was driving in the parking lot, Winter Haven police said.

According to police, Underwood's husband checked on the Suburban while Underwood put the car in drive and returned to her parking spot.  She then accelerated forward and crashed through the front doors of the store, landing about 25 feet inside and narrowly missing an 80-year-old woman who was shopping, police said.

Watkins was taken to Winter Haven Hospital after suffering cuts and bruises, police said.

In-store cameras caught the crash on video, which shows a store worker assisting the shopper and Underwood, who was cited for improper backing and careless driving.
