PALM BAY, Fla. -

A Brevard County veteran and his family got help from several volunteers and other local veterans Friday as they all started a home improvement project together.

Local 6 first introduced you to Sgt. Jonathan Langford and his family in June when the Military Warriors Foundation gave the three-time Purple Heart recipient a brand new mortgage-free home in Palm Bay.

Friday, several volunteers from Home Depot partnered up with a local Purple Heart chapter and fenced in the veteran's home.

"I'm humbled, I'm really humbled to the idea that I was awarded a home and then I have kind folks to come in here and put a fence up and repair the plumbing and do the things that make the house function on a daily basis," said Langford.

All of the tools, supplies and manpower were donated by Home Depot.

"One of Home Depot's core values is giving back to the community. The veterans are very important to our community and Jonathan Langford and his family have really sacrificed for our country." said Team Depot captain Carol Burturla. "Home Depot is here putting in a fence, we are going to be doing some landscaping, a little plumbing work and repairing the screen room."

Three years ago, Langford was injured when a grenade exploded while he was on patrol in eastern Afghanistan. The blow severely injured the Lake County native and left him with bad memories, but he says the transition from military to civilian life comes a lot easier with the help of volunteers like the ones who helped him out Friday.

"My life is improving every day. Life is good," said Langford.
