Volusia County's 911 system is currently experiencing problems.

Volusia County's 911 system has been restored Wednesday evening after an outage that lasted hours.

Local 6 has learned people received a recorded message when calling for emergencies.

VCSO reports that according to AT&T, it was not a problem with the 911 system and it was a countywide network problem caused by a trunk group failure that affected phone systems between the times of 1:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

VCSO reported that the 911 call issue was restored just after 5:30 p.m.

The issue affected both landlines and cellphones, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said anyone who receives the recorded message should hang up immediately and call (386) 252-4911 to reach the Emergency Communications Center.
