ORLANDO, Fla. -

An Orange County middle school student was robbed Wednesday morning by a person with a weapon, according to deputies.

The armed robbery happened around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Lancaster and Calyspso Drive near Walker Middle School.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the assailant approached the boy, who attends Walker Middle School, and demanded the boy's personal property.  The student complied, out of fear, and reported the incident when he arrived at school, deputies said.

The school principal said the boy was startled but went to class.  His parents were notified, and a message will be sent to other parents, officials said.

Detectives are not releasing the type of weapon or a description of the stolen property.

Deputies haven't said if the boy was walking alone, but the school district is reminding students to always walk in groups.
