WINTER PARK, Fla. -

A new liquid solution is being introduced in Winter Park that police hope will spray away unwanted intruders.

The liquid is called "SmartWater CSI" and is classified as a forensic encoded liquid that works as a theft deterrent.

Homeowners and businesses can spray the product on their property and valuables without noticing a difference.

The liquid only appears when police scan suspects or an item with an ultraviolet black light. If needed, police can send samples of the liquid to SmartWater's laboratory which then helps identify who is registered to that specific liquid.

The Winter Park Police Department will be the first agency to use the forensic liquid in Central Florida. Police in Ft. Lauderdale implemented the program last year.
