School bus involved in crash with pickup in Apopka

The closures are part of a plan by the school district to erase a huge budget deficit of $1.35 billion over five years and reduce the number of underused schools.

APOPKA, Fla. -

An Orange County school bus was involved in a crash Thursday afternoon with a pickup truck, but no students were seriously injured, officials said.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. near Welch Road and Evans Lane in Apopka.

Fire crews were evaluating the 13 students on board. The students were being transported from Wolf Lake Elementary School when the back of the bus was struck by a pickup truck while making a left-hand turn.

Students were moved to another bus and taken home. No injuries were reported.
