Manziel takes break from Twitter
At least for the time being, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has sworn off using Twitter because he says it's too distracting. He closed down his account on Monday.
"I kind of just shut it all off," the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner said, according to ESPN.com. "With how the media has been with me for a while, I just shut everything off. I said I was done with it for however long. It's fun to have, but it can get to be distracting at points."
Manziel's off-the-field adventures are well-documented since he rose to prominence last season as a redshirt freshman. Much has been made of his decision to take all of his classes online this spring because of the attention his new-found fame brought when he was campus. He also has been seen at NBA games, on vacation during break in Mexico and attending Mardi Gras.
Last week, it was reported that Manziel shoved a graduate assistant coach after throwing an interception during a spring scrimmage.
