Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly was released from the hospital Monday, 10 days after his final radiation treatment in his battle against cancer.

Kelly returned to his home after his release from Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he has been since May 15.

Kelly, 54, underwent a six-week regiment of both chemotherapy and radiation treatments to counter the cancer in his maxillary sinus and adjacent tissues. Kelly's doctors said he must wait two to three months after the conclusion of the treatments to determine the next steps in his cancer battle.

"He's excited about getting home," said Kelly's brother, Dan, according to the Buffalo News. "We're really excited for him and he's glad to get going on the road to recovery."

Kelly, who led the Bills to four Super Bowls in the 1990s, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
