Scott Frost confirms he will coach Knights in Peach Bowl

Frost at first practice Tuesday since announcing his move to Nebraska

ORLANDO, Fla. – Scott Frost was at practice Tuesday with the UCF Knights for the first time since announcing he was leaving the University of Central Florida football team for a head coaching position at Nebraska.

The football team is preparing to face Auburn University (10-3) in the Peach Beach Bowl game Jan. 1.

Frost was hired as Nebraska's coach shortly after UCF won 62-55 in double-overtime to defeat Memphis and capture the American Athletic Conference title.

After resigning from UCF, Frost said he still planned to coach his team in the bowl game. But after UCF athletic director Danny White announced Josh Heupel as the Knight's new head coach, fans and sports commentators began asking if Frost should still be the one to coach the bowl game.

Frost is taking seven UCF assistant coaches with him to his new head-coaching job. The Orlando Sentinel also reports that those coaches have already begun recruiting for the Cornhuskers.

In an online poll posted to ClickOrlando.com 77 percent of participants voted "yes," saying that Frost should coach the Knights in their final game.

At Spectrum Stadium on Tuesday, Scott reaffirmed his decision and said he will lead the Knights in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Day.

"I'm grateful to have this opportunity. UCF has been unbelievable to me and to be up there one more time is special to me," Frost said. "This is a great place and a great university and it's unusual circumstances but our staff is completely committed and we're going to do everything we can for this football team."

Frost said that despite his leaving the players are excited for the bowl game and were energized on the field Tuesday.

"Like I said these aren't ideal circumstances but we're all dialed in and committed," Frost said.
