NOAA cancels furloughs during hurricane season
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has canceled planned furloughs that were set to take place during hurricane season, which began June 1.
Twelve-thousand agency employees were looking at as many as 20 days without pay this summer because of forced budge cuts.
In a memo sent late last week to employees, NOAA said last month's deadly tornadoes remind everyone just how vital the agency is in keeping people safe.
NOAA forecasters say there will be above-normal storm activity this hurricane season.
