Tropical Depression 14 forms over eastern Atlantic

Depression forecast to become tropical storm, NHC says

ORLANDO, Fla. – Tropical Depression 14 formed Thursday night over the eastern Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center said.

As of 11 p.m. Thursday, the depression was 380 miles south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Forecasters said maximum sustained winds were near 35 mph and the depression was heading west-northwest at 22 mph.

Strengthening is expected during the next couple of days. Forecasters said the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm later Thursday night or Friday.

No coastal watches or warnings were in effect, forecasters said.
